Here is my response to the follow up questions. Pre-paid collect and collect calls cost $3.60 plus taxes
and $3.80 plus taxes respectfully. Long distance pre-paid collect and long-distance collect calls also
have a per minute fee of $0.80 and $0.85 respectfully. Long distance debit calls do not have a per minute
fee - it is a flat $3.40 per 30-minute call. The commission the IDOC receives is not affected by the taxes
charged or the length of call or whether the call is local or long distance. We do not calculate the
commission on a percentage basis - just a flat amount per completed call. The commission the IDOC
receives goes into the Inmate Management Fund and is used for inmate services such as recreation,
religious, etc.

To clarify, I understand there are set phone call rates -- but are
interstate (long distance) collect calls also $3.80 per call flat rate? In
our experience the long distance rates also include a per-minute fee, so I'd
like to verify that.
Also, from the data provided it looks like the commission rate varies from
46% (collect) to 66.1% (debit), excluding CWC's. If that is not accurate,
please advise.
Again, thanks for the assistance; the above clarifications will conclude our
research.
